In this screen printing tutorial video we take another look at squeegee in an attempt to tie it all together in this remade and updated video. How To Screen Print: Creamy, Easy Black Plastisol Textile Ink

I wouldn’t normally make a video about black ink but since I am selling this plastisol textile ink I figured it was appropriate. So here is a video in which we take a look and do a test print. You’ll see it’s an easy, smooth ink to print with and not only that it’s inexpensive. In the latest educational screen printing video we take a look at the new Catspit tested and approved black plastisol ink for printing tee shirts and other garments. Black inks and other dark inks are relatively easy to work with since they tend to be on the thinner side and the pigmentation is very strong. So when we think of doing videos about ink we don’t normally demo these darker inks. But it’s a good idea to know what a decent ink looks like and how it prints. If you don’t know what you should be using then it is hard to tell if the products out there will perform well until you try them. This is a rather simple demonstration video in which we print some of the black ink and take a close up look. Nothing fancy or exciting but a good video to watch in order to learn about plastisol textile screenprinting inks. In this video you will get to see the consistency of the ink and you’ll get a look at how easy it is to print with.

How To Screen Print: Changing Ink Colors On Press Tips

This tutorial screenprinting video was inspired during the shooting of the last one. Have you ever taken an old screen out to use with white ink and find your ink being contaminated form the last ink color used on that screen? Do you wonder about the easiest way to clean ink off the screen on press for in print run color changes? At some point these questions will arise in your screen printing endeavors so here is a quick tips video, that is not so quick, that will help you with just these problems. So follow along as I share with you my methodology of cleaning screens for usage later and cleaning inks off screen while working on press.

This is another educational screenprinting video by Catspit Productions, LLC. Here we take another look at cleaning up ink off of your screen printing screens. But in this edition we look at it from the perspective of an on press ink change and we also consider cleaning screens well for the next use with white ink. Recently we had used a screen that had previously been cleaned of red ink. But we didn’t clean it well and when it was used with white ink on it the next time I printed; the red began to contaminate the white. In this video we look at this and we discuss how to prevent it. How do you clean a screen on press for an ink change? This is answered in the video. How do you clean a screen of ink so that the next time you use white ink it will be clean? Well we look at that too. This video is an extension of previous ink cleaning videos and will fill in some missing pieces for all of you who are new to the process.

How To Screen Print: Creamy Smooth Opaque Plastisol White Ink

Okay I did this video about the white ink available at CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com but now I’m not sure I gave it a fair shake. The video came out very well and the ink performed nicely as I expected but I used a rag shirt that had been washed for the test print. So the close up shot of the print I think may not really represent the ink to its fullest ability. I thought it looked fine but I think there was some fibrillation from the rag tee. But this ink does get my seal of approval especially for the money. At this pricing anyone can afford to at least try a quart.

This is a very inexpensive screenprinting ink that is smooth and creamy. It has very good ink flow characteristics and great opacity. This plastisol screen printing ink is available at CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com and is completely tested and approved by Jonathan himself. In order for any high opacity ink to work properly please remember that squeegee durometer, mesh tension, mesh count, off contact and your flood/stroke will all be determining factors in the end result regardless of the quality of the ink. What that means is even with the highest quality, highest performing inks if your set up is not proper then your print result will not be satisfactory especially for the high price you may have paid for the HO inks. Get yourself set up right and using a proper flood and stroke will make any decent ink work even better. Unless the ink is like plaster of Paris…. LOL 😉

Screen Printing Tee Shirts: Inexpensive 4 Color Floor Press

Here’s a quick video about a new little floor press for screen printing tee shirts. This is RANAR’s bottom of the line entry level floor press which does not have micro registration. Screen Printing Tee Shirts: Small, Inexpensive Infrared Belt Dryer

This is one of the last 2 videos I made while in Long Beach, California this year for the screen printing trade show at the convention center. The trip was fun but it’s always hard to run a business from the road not to mention expensive. I really enjoy it and I’ll do it whenever I can mostly in Long Beach or Las Vegas. But this year while I was at the Long Beach show in July I figured I would quickly give you a look at the Scamp mini belt dryer from RANAR. As you should know by now Catspit Productions is an authorized RANAR dealer and we can offer the complete line of equipment, supplies and accessories.

This is another educational screen printing video by Catspit Productions, LLC. In this video you will see me at the NBM trade show in Long Beach California. Here in the RANAR booth I’ll introduce you to the mini infrared belt dryer we call the Scamp DX 200. If you’re just starting out screenprinting t-shirts then a move up from a flash cure unit to a small belt oven will speed up the production time. This compact unit could also be ideal for point of sale printing and events. Remember, the bigger the oven chamber the more stable the temperature will be inside the belt dryer. Therefore with the Scamp you’ll need to keep an eye on your cure. Honestly with any belt dryer you should ensure that the shirts are curing properly during the print run. Always do multiple tests to ensure that your plastisol or water based inks are fully cured and laundry safe. Take a moment and enjoy this short video about printing textiles. RANAR Vista Screen Printing Press: A Tale Of Two Print Heads

I’ve been a little busy with some print work and family responsibilities. But a few people recently asked me about the new RANAR Vista series screen printing press designs for the print head. I figured this would be an easy video to do since I am a little pressed for time right now. I got up really early in the morning to make this video since I had to go out and run some errands for print work in the afternoon that day. Early video making is great for the lower heat this time of year but I’m not really a morning person…

This is another educational screen printing video by Catspit Productions, LLC. In this episode I take a quick look at the RANAR Vista series print heads. The newest Vista series floor presses have updated print heads with a new added feature. These new print heads have all the same functions of the old one like off contact, screen angle, micro registration and more but now they have a built in “zero point” system so you may reset the micro registration to the center point on all head when setting up a multi-color screen print job. This system is built into the metal of the micro registration plates. There are no stickers or printed grids that can wear off over time. This zeroing out system will be easy to use and visible for the entire lifetime of the press, guaranteed. Screen Printing Exposure Units: 20×24 Table Top Black Lamp

Just a quick video featuring some exposure units at the RANAR booth at the NBM show in Long Beach California. I figured I would feature some equipment this year since this show is so small and mostly filled with awards and sign vendors. The…re wasn’t much screen printing going on for me to make videos from and the NBM show is very protective in what they will allow me to video. So I could only make videos in the RANAR booth. I thought trade shows were about networking and exposure but you know Corporate America today.

This is another screen printing trade show video in which we take a quick look at an exposure unit that stands alone on the floor with legs. This is a rather large industrial black lamp exposure unit but for those of you who are just starting out we have a very similar unit that is a table top version. This is basically the same industrial fluorescent black lamp exposure unit except it has been scaled down to sit on a table top. You can fit this little unit onto any stable surface that can support it. The unit comes with a padded weight for added convenience. If you’re tired of getting poor results with a 500 watt work lamp and you’re ready to step up the game in order to get better screens with greater ease then this table top exposure unit is a must to look at. Screen Printing Trade Show: Behind The Scenes With Catspit

Here we go with another behind the scenes screen printing trade show video. Come along as I go to the Long Beach Convention Center to work the 2013 NBM Printwear show. This is actually a small show and it includes awards, engraving, and sign exhibitions with a small screen printing presence.

They actually squish all the screen printers to one side of the exhibit hall instead of mixing everyone together to cross expose attendees to both sides of the industry. Unless you are a big player then you can use your weight to push NBM around and have a screen printing booth near the front among the sign and award booths. I wonder who did that 😉
