Screenprinting Dark Shirts: HO, Low Bleed Poly/Cotton Badass White

Here is a late upload to YouTube. It’s the newest video about Triangle Phoenix White. This is a high-capacity, low bleed, poly cotton white plastisol ink. Have a more detailed look at this high-performance white ink. But first I have to ask you to please not laugh at my wrinkled shorts. I admit I have been without a girlfriend for a little bit now and I think I need that companionship. I don’t mean that in a chauvinistic way… LOL. But you know how it is when you have a domestic partner. They make you care more about wrinkled clothes right? So if there are any available artistic gals in Phoenix…..  LOL sorry I got distracted. Anyway check out this really cool video about this very bad ass white plastisol ink. I even show you the unusual expanding qualities this ink has. You’ll be sure to enjoy this video and you may even pick up another tip or two on how to print white ink on dark garments without flashing.

This is a follow-up video to the previous one we did about the Triangle Phoenix white. The first video about this ink was made in 2012 when we featured this product with another vendor. Today we are proud to sell this product direct. This video goes into further detail on how to print this white ink without flashing. You will learn about the famous Catspit putty print that may also be referred to as a one-hit white. Learn about the unusual expansion qualities of this ink and how it can help you in producing a more opaque print. This video will also emphasize how important your setup and equipment is to reducing the time it takes to print white plastisol inks on black or dark garments. Any halfway decent white ink can be printed without flashing when you know what you’re doing. However using a high-performance, high opacity, low bleed white ink in addition to the proper setup and tools will make your life much easier. It will also produce a superior product in the end. If you take the time to watch this video we promise you will not only learn from it but you will enjoy it. Learning how to screen print is always fun with Jonathan from Catspit Productions 😉

Screenprinting Artwork In AI: How To Use The Registration Swatch

Okay so here is a follow up video to the last one we did about the “T” registration marks that I often use here in house. I was reminded by Matt at Mikey designs on Facebook that we could also use the AI registration swatch with these custom reg marks. It’s really best for host or RIP color separations but I figured now was the time to mention it. Thanks Matt! When we do some color separations with film output we’ll look at another way to add registration marks to all of your film positives.

This is a very simple explanation of the registration swatch in Illustrator. In this follow up tutorial I show you how to use the swatches tab in the same layers window I pointed out last time. It’s a cool way to make any custom registration mark print from one layer to all the film positive separations. Follow along as we take a look at this and you’ll even hear a bit about host separations and RIP separations. I explain some about printing a separation out form one layer with a multi-color piece of art. Hold on cowboy, take it step by step. I’ll get to other more complicated artwork videos after we cover some basics. I’ll be doing some Catspit printing which will serve the purpose for the video 😉 I hope you enjoy this vector art instructional. Thanks for watching and please make sure to subscribe.

Making Screenprinting Artwork: How To Use A “T” Registration Mark

Here is a quick tutorial video on how to make the Catspit “T” registration marks. This is part of my basic artwork creation series for screenprinting designs. My intent is to get you familiar with Illustrator so that when I get to more complex videos you will be able to build up you basic skills underneath the more advanced skills which will come later. Please remember I am not a professional graphic artist so these tips may seem simple and perhaps useless to some but the goal is to teach the basic idea and fundamentals of Illustrator which will have you creating simple artwork in less time than learning by trial and error. Take baby steps. Build on basics. We will get to more complex artwork videos in due time 😉

Here is a very simple and easy way to create screenprinting registration marks while working on layers in vector software. When we create simple spot colors it is often advantageous to work in layers and manually separate colors while you make the art. This can work with any simple multiple color artwork where the colors do not overlap much or where they do they do not need to be knocked out. I use simple “T” marks on an additional layer to set up basic registration marks. In this educational screen printing video you will learn how I create those and what they look like. Follow along in Illustrator as I make 4 marks with a capital T and use them for registration. It’s a simple and easy fix for those jobs that do not need complex separations, RIP software or host generated registration marks which are often very thin lined. This was a requested tutorial video so I hope you do not find it too simple or redundant. Enjoy!

Screenprinting Tee Shirts: High Opacity Low Bleed White Ink

Hey everyone! I have a very cool announcement to make along with the color ink explosion we had this week for our plastisol ink lineup. Finally my go to white ink is back on the Catspit venue. Triangle Sta Ture 1701 Phoenix White is a great ink I love to use. Check out this vintage video I made back in 2012 when I first featured this ink with another vendor. I reedited it so as not to mention those details. I have been using this white ink since then. I’ll do a new video on this ink showing even better coverage and the expansion properties that will fill the knit more when you heat it up good 😉 Stay tuned…..

Finally my favorite super opaque white ink for screenprinting tee shirts is now available again through Catspit. I showed you this ink back in 2012 and since then we have gone through a lot of change for the better. This video was actually made in 2012 but we reedited it and reloaded it so we could share this killer white ink with you right away. This is the white ink that will work with 100% cotton, 50/50 poly/cotton and 100% polyester. When used and cured properly this super opaque low bleed white plastisol ink will outperform all others. This is the only white ink we recommend for printing on dark garments without flashing and printing twice. That’s right no more long double hit flash print runs! This ink can work as an excellent fabric blocking under base or it can be used as a bright white stand-alone ink for those challenging white on black print runs. This ink is a cool white which helps it pop on dark and colored garments. You can get this ink anywhere online but when you buy it from Catspit you get a money back guarantee. If you don’t like it I’ll return your money and take the gallon back to use in my own shop 😉

Screenprinting Fun: How to Create A Fine Art Mono Print Poster

Here it is. The fun and creative mono print technique using #screenprinting. This is something I learned a long time ago in art school. I thought this would be a fun project to share with you all. I think it is well suited for artists who can draw or paint and it’s a fun project for the kids too. In this video you’ll learn how to make a mono screen print with only a screen, squeegee, and a few inks. Sorry for the weekend upload but I am still catching up from a personal family emergency. Oh and the second shoot turned out longer than the first…. LOL. Sorry to all of those who prefer shorter videos I tried.

This educational video is about how to create a mono print using only a screen and a squeegee with some inks. A mono print is a form of printmaking that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking, where there are multiple original prints made from the same “plate” or screen. There are many techniques of mono printing. You can produce a mono print with screenprinting and the results will vary greatly on your application technique. In this method we actually use a blank screen without any emulsion or stencil to make a singular print. The inks are applied to the open mesh by hand with multiple colors used at once. The ink is painted, dribbled, spread, dropped, or drawn directly onto the open mesh. In this way we create an image that we can then stroke with a squeegee in order to produce a mono print with abstract and surreal qualities. Follow along in a video demonstration of this technique and please forgive our 3rd grade rendition of a farm landscape. Learn how dynamic and creative screen printing can be!
