Plastisol Screenprinting Inks For Tee Shirts and Textiles

We now have a limited selection of a nice array of colors in plastisol inks. I’m carrying mostly gallons in different colors with quarts in select and requested colors. I actually have to quart off these myself and label them so I’m trying to offer as many colors in quarts as I can. Here’s the pricing for the economy standard black and white inks. As you can see the gallons are the best value since this ink is so competitively priced. Excellent performance, great pricing and thinner than most other plastisol inks.

Arizona’s Grand Canyon: Sunset Time Lapse Art Light Study

This is a pretty cool sunset light study artists can use to paint from or learn about how light moves across rough terrain such as mountains. Here the color has been nicely exaggerated for you to see in video and the original video file is about 45 minutes long so this is the full sunset. Use this video for art classes, painting, drawing and even photography. You can learn a lot by studying how the light moves across our Earth. But this video is also calming and soothing to watch. The music score is a Native American themed piece to pay tribute to the true owners of this sacred land. You can watch this video in order to relax before bedtime as it has those nice reds and orange colors your brain wants to see at dusk.

The Grand Canyon (Hopi: Ongtupqa; Yavapai: Wi:kaʼi:la, Spanish: Gran Cañón), is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona in the United States. It is contained within and managed by Grand Canyon National Park, the Kaibab National Forest, Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument, the Hualapai Tribal Nation, the Havasupai people and the Navajo Nation. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.

Screen Printing T-Shirts: Assembling 4 Color, 1 Station Bench Top Press

Alright I finally got some work done around the Phoenix storefront this week. I had a few pieces of equipment to assemble for the showroom so I figured this would be a fun fast motion video for you all. And it could even help people assemble their Ranar press! Maybe…. LOL. But it should make you smile at the very least.

Here’s a fun time lapse video in fast motion that shows me setting up and putting together a RANAR 4 Color Bench Top Press P-405 screen printing press. I had to cut out some of it for time considerations and the part where I realized I started the camera and had no tools. But besides those few edits you can watch me assemble a 4 color, 1 station bench top textile screenprinting press. In real time it took about 45 minutes simply because I am doing other things at the same time. At this point if I get all my ducks in a row before I start I can do this in 30 minutes or less. But…. I have done several of these over the years so I don’t even need the instructions…. LOL. Eventually I will be able to do it blindfolded! So follow along on this fun trip through how I get things ready for display in the Catspit Phoenix area storefront. I sell a few of these units so there’s almost always one in the showroom to see but sometimes I will only have either the 4 color or 2 color version of the same press. Enjoy!

Arizona State’s Grand Canyon: Soothing Views Of Ongtupqa Or Wi:kaʼi:la

Okay so here’s my visit to the Grand Canyon. I have been in Arizona State for a while and I even went to college here years ago but I never made it to the Canyon. Just like I lived in New York forever and I’ve never been to the Statue of Liberty…. LOL. I uploaded this last night and it already got 2 thumbs down 😦 But it’s a cool video in my opinion and if you have never been there then this is a nice look. Have a break today and take a look for yourself. And rate thumbs up if you support all of my video work 🙂

The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,093 feet or 1,857 meters). Nearly two billion years of Earth’s geological history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. While the specific geologic processes and timing that formed the Grand Canyon are the subject of debate by geologists, recent evidence suggests that the Colorado River established its course through the canyon at least 17 million years ago. Since that time, the Colorado River continued to erode and form the canyon to its present-day configuration.

Screen Printing: My Brother Visits And Prints in The Catspit Shop!

I have a couple of Grand Canyon videos to edit and upload. One will be a sunset and the other is a video tour. I hope to get those done next as we head into the holiday weekend. It’s already quiet as people are taking their last summer vacations this week and next. Here’s a fun behind the scenes video with me and my brother doing a little printing for his friends out in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Some of you may know my 2 brothers live in the East Valley here in the Phoenix area. It’s called the Valley of the Sun and on this day it was raining. In this screen printing video you get to see my brother doing a little printing in the Catspit shop for a friend of his. He is actually pretty much retired but he enjoys screen printing tee shirts very much and he does all of his own artwork. His forte is simple 1 or 2 color business designs and logos and once in a while he will print some tee shirts for someone he meets and becomes friends with in his local neighborhood. So my brothers help me out a lot in the business since I am a smaller company and it’s very expensive to hire an employee. They help me with a lot of the labor, shop set up and more. But everything else is pretty much done all by yours truly. In this behind the scenes screenprinting video you get to see how different my brother prints. He is very old school and had a print shop in New York for over 25 years. I helped him get started in his garage when I was in high school.

See me and my brother printing in his garage when I was about 17 or 18:

Screen Printing: Ranar Elite Off Contact Settings Are Easy As Pie!

Okay so I shot this video late yesterday and during the filming a monsoon passed through Phoenix so you may be able to hear some of that at certain points. But what really gets me is the audio malfunctions that I can only guess were due to electrical interference with the wireless Bluetooth microphones. I think the thunder affected the connection and there are a few audio anomalies. I actually noticed this during shooting and reshot each section like 3 times trying to get rid of that but it was futile. Never fight with Mother Nature. You will lose….. LOL 😉

In this new educational screenprinting video we take a look at the new Elite Series II off contact settings and how the secondary off contact adjustment makes life a breeze. You all know that setting off contact on most manual rotary screen printing presses is difficult to say the least. Sometimes it seems impossible to set properly and poor off contact or too much off contact can make or break you on press. Not anymore. The secondary off contact setting on the new Ranar Elite Series II combined with the screen angle adjustment makes setting off contact a piece of cake. You’ll never get angry, frustrated or discouraged with this awesome press. If you’re in the market for a new manual rotary textile screenprinting press then you need to take a look at this bad boy. I have been doing screen printing since I was 11 years old and I am going on 45 very soon and these are the easiest off contact adjustments I have ever used. I promise you will not regret buying this rotary textile tee shirt press. And it comes with free shipping in the continental US all year long!

Creating Screenprinting Art: Adobe Illustrator Distressed Or Textured Effect

I really hate the audio quality of my videos when I do artwork videos on the computer. I think next time I might run the camera to pick up better audio and then splice it over the video to match. That way I could get a better audio track for you all and perhaps even use a clip or two from the video at the computer. We shall see. But in the meantime this video should do. Before we go on, remember you should be able to use EPS files with Corel Draw as well.

There are many ways to create a weathered, distressed or textured effect in your graphic vector art for screenprinting tee shirts. Some are more complex than others but this is probably the easiest way to do it when you’re working with vector art. You can try to create a transparency mask in Photoshop and use it there or import it into Adobe Illustrator. But the simplest way of all is to download or purchase a vector pack of textures or distressed effects and so on. A volume of clip art may contain many different types of patterns to use as texture overlays with vector artwork. For a 1 color piece of artwork it is very easy to copy and paste a texture object over your entire piece of art creating the distressed effect. You can even modify them, shape them and combine them to get the effect you desire. Some people will use the vector texture patterns in different ways but the simplest is to place over all the other objects in the artwork. This educational video shows you how to do it. If you need to eliminate any texture objects interfering with the art, simply ungroup the texture objects and select the parts that are in the way and delete. You’ll want to do that part last. Make sure to share your texture tricks in the comments for this video. Enjoy and thanks for watching!

There is an EPS file and an Adobe file for PC and MAC. The comments are actually closed, sorry 😉 But this is a cool resource for you to use.

Learn How To Screen Print: Exposing Yellow Or Dyed Screen Mesh

Here’s the follow up video to the yellow screen mesh video. I broke this down into 2 videos to make them each shorter and to make the information easier to consume. But read below and you’ll see why it’s always a good idea to check my video descriptions. You never know what things I will include there that I forgot to include in the video….

This is another screenprinting quick tips video about the different colors of screen mesh. In our last video we talked about why mesh is dyed yellow and how that affects detail in exposures. In this tutorial video we discuss the ramifications of the light absorption into the dyed mesh. If you opened the video description for our last video you will see I actually explained this for you. But I figured we needed to break this up into 2 videos so as to be not too long and much more understandable. Now we look at how higher mesh counts hold emulsion and what that means to exposing yellow or dyed mesh screens. Some of you may have to adjust your exposure due to the falloff of light when exposing yellow mesh. But many of you may not. This video explains why and what the principle is behind it. Sometimes knowing a little bit about the physics of screen printing allows us to better understand how to do screen printing. I hope you enjoy the video!

Learn How To Screen Print: Yellow Screen Mesh Vs. White Screen Mesh

So I have over 400 screenprinting videos now and it’s getting to the point that I think I am remaking videos sometimes….LOL. I know I have discussed this in the past but I could not find a video on the topic specifically. So here it is. If this is a duplicate then I apologize…. Haha! I don’t think so though.

This is another screenprinting quick tips video about the different colors of screen mesh. Why is some screen printing mesh dyed yellow? Why is some white? What is the difference and what do you need to know about dyed mesh? This educational screenprinting video answers those questions and more in a short video about the colors of polyester monofilament screen mesh. The difference is in the exposure and this video explains that. Also, yellow mesh may sometimes require a slightly longer exposure time than white mesh, but not always. Since the yellow mesh absorbs light sometimes we may need to increase the exposure times a bit. But that may not always be the case. Since the dyed mesh counts tend to be higher, thinner screen mesh, they hold a lot less emulsion and therefore sometimes can be exposed at the same times as white mesh. That’s something you’ll have to test out in your shop to see. In my shop I run yellow and white mesh at the exact same exposure times. I hope you enjoy the video!
