Ranar LED Screenprinting Exposure Unit: Spot Color Vs Halftone Screen Burns

Okay I finally got this video done. I had to shoot the washing out of the screens twice because I forgot to set up the close up camera. LOL… can you notice the defect in the screen on one of the close up shots? Well… enjoy!

This is the long awaited LED exposure unit video in which we make 2 different screen exposures using the new Ranar LED XPO2331 vacuum top exposure unit. LED exposure units are the latest technology in screen making for screen printing textiles and other substrates. These units may be multiple bulb light sources technically but the little LED bulbs are focused and they emit UV light at about 400 nanometers wavelength. This is exactly what the emulsion wants to see and it will cure the emulsion very well from the substrate side to the inkwell side. The quality of light is such that it cures all emulsion types with ease. It should eliminate or drastically reduce emulsion scum and filming of underexposed emulsion on the inkwell side. Check out this video and follow along as I expose 2 screens with you and take close up looks at the stencils we create. If you’re looking into getting a point source exposure unit or even an industrial black lamp unit you should seriously take a look at the new LED exposure unit made by Ranar and sold through Catspit Productions.

Mesa Air Museum: Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force

So here’s a short video about my visit to the Mesa Air Museum. I have a love of flight and I almost went into the Air Force with a college degree to do photography for aircraft and flight situations. I probably would have also done video eventually 😉 This is a museum that is in the Phoenix area and it’s small but there are often visiting aircraft and you can actually book a flight on a vintage plane. I think I’m going to do that and maybe we can make some video of that too.

The Airbase Arizona Museum has on display many WWII artifacts and memorabilia from the War Years to the Home Front. Many of these artifacts have been donated to the Arizona Wing by veterans and their families wanting to see them displayed to the public. School children that are too young to know much about this time are now able to see and feel this part of our history through school field trips.

Today Airbase Arizona maintains and flys it’s premier aircraft the B-17G Sentimental Journey and the B-25J Maid in the Shade along with an SNJ, C-47 Skytrain/Dakota, C-45 Expeditor, PT-17 Stearman, and an L-16 Grasshopper. Restoration projects have included a MiG-15, Grumman Guardian, and a Sikorsky helicopter. The Arizona Wing has on display an F4 Phantom, A-26 Invader, SE5a, Schweizer TG-3A Glider and Mig 21, plus numerous visiting aircraft.

Conveniently located off the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway. Traveling by Land: The Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force Aviation Museum is located on the northeast corner of Greenfield and McKellips roads at 2017 N. Greenfield Rd. Mesa, AZ 85215.

Serious Screen Printing Training, Education and Classes, Phoenix, AZ

Are you serious about learning how to screen print tee shirts? Have you been looking at all the classes available online? Then take a look at the personal one on one training I offer here in the Catspit Phoenix storefront. These training sessions are called “classes” but they are totally personal and very intimate. You purchase the class and then I call you to schedule your session the next available week. That’s right; it will be you and I for most of the classes and training that I offer.

This is serious training where you will learn real world printing. This is not some marketing class designed to sell you equipment, no. This is real, hardcore training where I teach you from my practical experience as a commercial screen printer with over 25 years’ experience. My goal is to teach you how to screen print textiles. I do not push equipment sales on you during this class. This is not a paid sales pitch. I make my revenue by teaching, not trying to make sales off you.

Learn How To Screen Print: Unloading Shirts From A Spray Tacked Pallet

Here’s an educational video inspired by my teaching and instruction here in Phoenix. That’s right; I got the idea for this video from watching my students try to pull a shirt off a pallet with spray tack. This is one of those pieces on information you’ll only get from an experienced screen printer and that’s why taking one of my classes would be more beneficial than taking one of those marketing scam classes. It’s a great example of teaching from experience and this video is a short tutorial to help you prevent ruining shirts when you pull them off a pallet that has spray tack. This is one of those things you may not think of until you accidentally ruin a shirt from the snap back of the garment from the pallet. When the garment releases from the spray tack it can spring on itself causing the fabric to ruin a freshly printed wet ink print. There’s a simple thing you can do to prevent this from happening to you and it’s easy to do. Follow along and learn about this tip that you’ll most likely use for a lifetime.

Music Video Submission by Taylor W. Wright: Dr. Whiskey: Dead Orbit (Progressive Metal)

For your Friday metal enjoyment! Happy Friday and have a great weekend 🙂

Check it! This is a great example of the wide variety of music videos we are looking for to share on the Catspit Productions YouTube channel. Ideally we want a professionally produced video. But if you have a professionally produced audio track then you can make a video for us. All you need to do is shoot some kind of edited video. Be creative. We want a finished product with HD stereo audio tracks but it does not have to be a professionally produced video. Shoot around where your group practices. Use live performance clips or use your neighborhood. The most critical part is to make sure the audio track is high quality sound that we can enjoy. The video we want is simply to help hold our attention, show off your skills or help tell the story the music may be telling. By no means does it have to be as produced as the first 2 video submissions we received. Those are great videos and we want more like them but this is open to all levels of production as long as you make an effort to edit and produce some video footage to accompany your high quality audio track. The excellent sound is a must. The audio part we want produced as much as you can have it done. But the video portion you can have fun with yourself. I just wanted to make that clear since in the original video it may sound like I want only videos like the first 2 but that’s not really what I meant 😉 I just want you to make an effort to produce a finished video product that we can enjoy. Follow? Ask me about it…..

Want to submit your own music video for upload? Watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsQI5U1Hwp4

Butterfly Wonderland: A Walk In The Order Of Lepidoptera

So this is Butterfly Wonderland in Scottsdale, Arizona. I had wanted to visit this place for some time but no one would go with me….LOL. So finally I went over for a look see myself and it was pretty interesting. I spent some time inside walking around shooting video and stills trying not to accidentally step on any little butterflies. It can get very warm and humid inside so if you need water make sure you have some. Ladies this is not going to be a good hair day. I used the still function of my HD video camera to do the images. I wanted the format to match and it worked out well enough I suppose. Enjoy!

From Wikipedia: Butterflies are part of the class of insects in the order Lepidoptera. Adult butterflies have large, often brightly coloured wings, and conspicuous, fluttering flight. The group comprises the true butterflies (superfamily Papilionoidea), the skippers (superfamily Hesperioidea) and the moth-butterflies (superfamily Hedyloidea). Butterfly fossils date to the mid Eocene epoch, 40–50 million years ago.

Butterflies exhibit polymorphism, mimicry and aposematism. Some, like the Monarch, will migrate over long distances. Some butterflies have parasitic relationships with organisms including protozoans, flies, ants, other invertebrates, and vertebrates. Some species are pests because in their larval stages they can damage domestic crops or trees; however, some species are agents of pollination of some plants, and caterpillars of a few butterflies (e.g., harvesters) eat harmful insects. Culturally, butterflies are a popular motif in the visual and literary arts.

Learn Screen Printing: How To Keep Spray Tack Adhesives On Your Pallets

This educational video started out as a quick tips video where I wanted to share one simple tip that will help keep your spray tack adhesives on the pallet and not on the inside of the garment you print. But I ended up jamming in a little more info than that so this video is overstuffed with a few more tips that I had originally planned to include. Well I hope it makes sense but this video should help you out if you have ever experienced pray adhesives coming off on the inside of your garments when you pull them off the pallet. Remember that there are generally 2 types of spray adhesives. Regular mist and web are used without any flashing whereas flash mist or flash web adhesives are intended for use with a flash cure unit on press. If you use standard adhesives with a flash cure they will get hot and come off inside the shirt no matter what you do. But I’m assuming you know that much already because you have watched all of my videos, right? Check out the spray adhesives we sell in Phoenix and online and enjoy the video!
