Welcome To The All New Catspit Screenprinting Blog!

Yes! Alright now, we have finally moved The Catspit Blog to WordPress. This move was necessary due to the old blog host shutting down and partnering with WordPress. This is actually a great move for the blog because on the old host system the blog was not as visible online as it should have been or could have been.

Now the Catspit Blog is fully functional like many blogs and even has a lot of website features that compliment the information presented there. It also integrates with the Catspit website much better. One of the best things about it is that you can freely leave comments on blog posts now without having an account with the blog service. That means that there should be a lot more activity on the blog posts. Not only do you not need any accounts to comment but you can also leave a link to your website with the comment.

Since this blog service is so much better than the old one, I will be trying to expand the articles posted here and utilize more of the great features the blog now has to offer. I hope you will all enjoy and appreciate the new and improved Catspit Productions Blog.

Please feel free to leave a comment on any blog post and thanks for reading! Learn how to screen print with Catspit Productions, LLC!

Screen Printing Business As Usual

Hello everyone! I’m back in the office and I’ll be back in the print shop tomorrow. I spent all day today catching up on YouTube questions and comments as well as website messages. I was able to get a few good videos from the SGIA show in Las Vegas. It was a lot of fun to go there for a screen printing trade show. I can see why they have them there. It’s a great way to attract attendees for business and pleasure.

It will take some time to post the new SGIA videos as there are already several videos lined up for uploading. Some of the next videos will be about micro registration, squeegee size tips, and screen opener among many more. Stay tuned!!

At The SGIA Show In Vegas Until Next Week!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to drop in and let you know I’ll be in Las Vegas for the next week at the SGIA trade show. It looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. I’ll be making some videos I hope. I’ll be meeting with Saati and perhaps I can stop by the M&R both again. We shall see.

I probably won’t write any blogs until I get back so hang in there and know that I am still here but working on great new content and possibilities for the Catspit website. If anyone is going to the show, go to the Saati booth and ask for Catspit. I’m sure they’ll know how to find me.

Thanks for all your support and patience as I go to the show in Vegas!

Jonathan is currently at the SGIA show in Las Vegas until next week. All inkjet film orders, questions and emails of any kind will be processed and/or replied to on Monday October 18th

New Screen Printing Video: Names & Numbers!

New screenprinting video on YouTube! See how to screen printing names & numbers with the Ultimate Numbering System. Now you can see how the professionals screen print numbers for sports teams and other organizations requiring numbering or name drops. This is a sophisticated, high speed manual printing system for larger shops doing this type of print work. Smaller shops doing the occasional numbering job would most likely use a different system.

Check out this great new screen printing video by Catspit Productions today! The video is called, “Screen Printing Names & Numbers”. This is a very cool video which demonstrates the numbering system used by many screen printers who print numbers or sports teams. These are the same guys who made the Ultimate Numbering System video that you may have seen on YouTube already. Well, this is a personal demonstration for Catspit Productions. I hope you all enjoy this new video.

What Happened To The More… Page?

I did some major surgery to the website last night. When I first started building the website, I really didn’t have any idea on how to set it up or organize all the information. I just started putting things together and created some confusing organizational anomalies. I have been able to go back and reorganize some of these mishaps. Now all of the screen printing articles are in one easily accessible location. No information has been removed; it has simply been moved and relocated. Much more logical and much less confusing now!

What used to be the More… page is now the Wiki History page and the articles that used to be on this page have moved to the Article Archive section of the website. The Printing Methods page has been modified so that there are actually printing methods there now. Instead of a random selection of screenprinting articles, there is a complete description of the reproductive methods used in screen printing. Finally the Ink Mixing page has been updated just slightly in that the majority of the articles have been moved to the Article Archive but there is still some general information about ink mixing along with a list of links to other ink mixing articles on the website.

Please be aware that none of the information or articles have been removed. Instead, they articles and information have been moved to a more logical location. If you are looking for an article that used to be on a particular page, please check the Article Archive page for that article. This is where all of the screen printing articles will reside from here on out.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. In the long run I hope you find this to be a needed and welcomed update to the Catspit Productions website. Thanks for reading!

New Screen Printing Video: Ink Scoops For Plastisol Inks

I often am asked about what to use for scooping ink out of buckets and onto screens for screen printing. There are many solutions to this that range from specially made spatulas for printing to the simple piece of cardboard. If you do any amount of screen printing on a regular basis, you know that is is necessary to have a good set of ink handling tools.

In this video I share with you the simple solution I use for ink scoops or what I sometimes call spatulas. The video is called, “How To Screen Print: Ink Scoops Or Spatulas”. This video is part of a new series of videos I will be doing called Quick Tips. Most of the time these will be shorter videos that feature a subject perfect for a quick 5minutes or less video. In some cases the video may run longer than 5 minutes but the subject will be simple and focused to a small aspect of screen printing.

I hope these will add more rounded information to the YouTube channel and provide you all with some inside information about the small things I may overlook or take for granted as an experienced printer.

Discounted Screen Printing Supplies Online

Catspit Productions has taken a completely new direction with the website and sponsorship program. Instead of having one full time sponsor which locks us into that vendors pricing and available supplies, we are now sponsor free. This means that I am able to work with anyone I want and negotiate deals for supplies and equipment on my own. That allows me to focus on the needs and demands of my particular internet audience.

This is great news! It gives me more power to offer my website visitors the best of what each vendor has to offer. At the same time it gives the website visitor more choices as to who they want to do business with and even promotes competition between the vendors in the Print Supplies section of the Catspit website.

Now you can visit the Print Supplies page and get a 5% discount on most all orders when you enter the special Catspit code. Please be sure to read each vendor’s listing thoroughly. The particular codes for each vendor are there with an explanation of what the code will do for you. In most cases it gets you a 5% discount. In some cases it may get you a bigger discount or other special deals. Make sure to enter the appropriate Catspit code when you checkout with your screenprinting supplies order. If you do not, you will not receive any discount at all. The links are not click through links and they will not record your discount.

Over time, I hope to add more vendors bringing a wider variety of products as well as a greater range of pricing to the Catspit Productions Print Supplies page. It is my intent to help you source the equipment and supplies you need without the pressure and hassle of a high stress salesman. Furthermore, I hope to feature the appropriate products and educational materials that best suit the needs of all website visitors. As a screen printer myself, I am better able to guide people through the learning process than a salesman who has never printed. This process includes the purchasing of the equipment and supplies you will need to screenprint.

Remember, I am here to help, not just to sell product. If I can help out by sourcing products for you while you learn to print, then we both benefit. Even if you never buy anything with a Catspit code, this information is valuable as educational material and will help you learn about the costs of the screen printing process. I hope you find the addition of the discounted screen printing supplies to be a valuable asset in your home, hobby and professional screenprinting endeavors. Good luck to you all!

Ranar Screen Printing Equipment

As many of you may know the screen printing press that appears in the YouTube videos is made by RANAR. I have been sourcing equipment on my own since about a month or two. It seemed logical to offer RANAR screenprinting equipment for sale through Catspit Productions. Since I was already using a RANAR press and other equipment, it was a natural move to finally list their products on the website.

You may ask, why did that take so long? The answer is complicated and just know that there is a lot more going on behind the scenes here other than screen printing tee shirts. The longevity and future of Catspit Productions is always under question as I push the business in a totally new direction for a screen printer. It’s not that we are floundering, not at all. Just overwhelmed with opportunity and always trying to make the right decisions. And taking it slow.

Now that I have picked up RANAR and can sell their products, I have learned a lot about their presses. One thing I didn’t know about the press I have is that it is upgradeable to a 6 station. That is awesome! I never knew that and never thought to ask about it. And they have a very cool and affordable line of entry level bench presses or table top presses. These are priced to sell which makes getting into screenprinting at home easy and affordable to most anyone. In fact RANAR equipment pricing is very good and accessible to many personal income levels.

They even have a table top fluorescent exposure unit that sells for $395! This is a very cool 4 bulb unit that comes with a padded screen weight. Once again I have picked out the equipment I feel best suites the visitors to the website but I can offer the full line of RANAR equipment. Seriously, I have to apologize for not doing this sooner. Make sure to stop by the RANAR equipment page and explore their wide array or presses for all levels of manual screen printing.

New Screen Printing Video Uploaded To YouTube!

Yes, yes! Another brand new video about screen printing has been posted to YouTube. This is an equipment video I have been wanting to make for some time now but I didn’t have the piece of equipment needed. What is this piece of equipment you ask? It’s a simple washout booth. I finally have access to a washout booth for my screen making process. So, I figured I would share this with you all and explain why I feel a washout booth is a necessary item to have.

This video is called, “How To Screen Print: The Washout Booth”. In the video I display and demonstrate the usage of a washout booth. You get to see a close up of the booth and you can see its construction. I even show the water and drain hook up so you could get the idea of what the washout booth is all about. This could even help you build one if you don’t want to purchase one.

It’s a pretty short and simple video and I am happy to have finally made it. I think it completes and rounds pout the collection of videos I have on equipment. Make sure to stop by the YouTube channel and check it out today!

New Video: How To Screen Print White Ink On Black Tee Shirts

Finally, a new screen printing video has been uploaded to YouTube. This video is about how to screenprint black ink on white tee shirts! The video has been on my “to do” list for some time. This is a very popular subject for beginning screen printers. It is common for people to start with black ink and when they get to white, things don’t go as well. Printing dark inks on light tee shirts is pretty easy. But printing white ink on dark garments is a little different and there are many ways to go about it. These are the 2 methods I use myself. I hope this helps all the first timers when they print white ink.

The video is called, “How To Screen Print White Ink On Black Tee Shirts”. I uploaded this video late Thursday night because I have been so busy at the shop. Make sure to stop by YouTube and have a look. And of course I’ll be working on some new videos right away. I am hoping to create some shorter videos with quick tips for screen printing at home.

Thanks for stopping by The Catspit Blog and visiting the website. I appreciate all of your continued support very much. Learn how to screen print with Catspit Productions, LLC!
