Learn How To Screen Print Tee Shirts: Preserving Your Gas Shocks Tip

Today’s educational video is a simple tip to extend and prolong the life of your gas shocks or gas cylinder lifts. There really isn’t much we can do in most cases but with certain equipment we can do one simple thing to help preserve the gas lift cylinder and extend its life. Gas lifters or gas shocks can be expensive to replace and in the screen printing industry we can find them as a part of a few different pieces of equipment. The 2 most common places to find the gas shocks are on the exposure tables with vacuum tops and they are often used on manual rotary presses. I think this is due to the fact that by using the gas shock less is needed on the actual press to do the lift arm job. But it also means this cylinder will be going up and down like crazy. Therefore on the exposure units we can take measures to preserve our gas lifters but with a manual rotary press we are much more limited as to preserving the gas lift cylinder. So this may be one of those bits of info that you can have in your back pocket and use whenever possible. Enjoy!

Learn How To Screen Print Tee Shirts: Doing A Print Stroke Without Flooding

This was an educational screenprinting video requested by one of our faithful viewers here on YouTube. I was supposed to get to this tutorial video last week but you know how it goes in the screenprinting shop. But this is a very simple video I made to demonstrate the principle of doing a print stroke without doing a flood stroke. You may think this is such an easy thing to do why make a video but think about it for a minute. If you are not an experienced printer this print method may not occur to you naturally and it’s a good tool to have in your back pocket when running a print shop. There could be any number of reasons why we might want to do a print stroke without flooding but how do you do it exactly? What is the best way to do a print stroke when we don’t want to flood? Catspit’s 3 Universal Factual Truths About Screen Printing: Yes It’s True! This Will Change Your Life! ;)

After working in the screenprinting industry for over 20 years and teaching screen printing online through my videos I have learned there are 3 universal truths to screenprinting. Now these are my personal truths and I’m sure someone will disagree with me but remember; to each his own. The only thing I can add to the video here is if you’re getting great print results but it’s taking forever then you may want to consider learning new techniques and getting some proper equipment to speed things up. Because when time becomes money, you need to print as many shirts as possible per hour. Therefore, in that respect, we could say you’re doing it wrong even if you’re getting great print results. Especially if your goal is to print as many shirts as you can per hour. Follow? Otherwise it’s up to you how you work and what is acceptable procedure. Whether you have a gas or infrared belt dryer you can use these tips to track the belt. There’s one very important tip for you to consider when tracking your belt. I cannot stress it enough and this is why I made the video in the first place. You see, when we sell belt dryers it is common for the belt to NOT be under warranty like the remainder of the machine. So it is critical that you know what you’re doing when it comes to setting up your conveyor dryer and tracking the belt. If you have just purchased or you are about to purchase any belt dryer, then you need to watch this video before you get your dryer. This video will help you save time, money and agony from setting the belt improperly and possibly damaging the belt and/or the belt motor. How To Screen Print Tee Shirts: 2 Color Design Production Run

This screen printing video is the 4th in a series about using host separations in Adobe Illustrator to create film positives and screens for printing tee shirts. In this installment we are doing the production run which means we are actually printing. Normally I would have loaded all the pallets and ran full rotary but since I was multi-tasking I did not. Also I ended up printing the green screen first and the brown second because it became evident during the first few prints that doing it in that order would increase the print resolution. Always remember you can do all the planning you want but when you get on press you may find you’ll need to adapt what you thought you were going to do to something you didn’t think about doing…. LOL. It’s the nature of the beast that you only truly find out what is going on once you’re on press. This was the last screenprinting video featuring the Vista series Ranar press. How To Screen Print Tee Shirts: Setting Up 2 Color Job On Press

This screen printing video is the third about using host separations in Adobe Illustrator to create film positives and screens for printing tee shirts. In this installment we actually set up the print job. Here you’ll get to see the process of setting up the 2 screens for the 2 color artwork we did the previous 2 videos about. That’s a lot of 2’s 😉 Follow along as I set up the test print and discuss my thoughts on the process. See me print stroke in two directions causing a registration problem I then fix by doing the print stroke the same. This is an abridged version of the video with a lot of side notes and tips cut out. However the meat and potatoes of the video are still intact and you’ll get an awesome rundown of screen printing a 2 color job. Watching this video is like taking some personal instruction with me in the Catspit shop.
