YouTube Video Annotations Updated

The annotations on all of the Catspit screen printing educational videos have been added to and updated. New informational tips and website promos have been added.

Many were simply standardized so as to be consistent with all of the other newer video annotations. Some valuable information has been added to some as well. I hope you enjoy these upgrades as I strive to increase the production value of the Catspit Productions screen printing videos.

New Limited Edition Shirts Coming To EBay

EBay sales have been slow to non existent but I feel the need to push forward and try to add more variety to the product line listed there. Now that EBay has made it possible to post multiple sizes for one shirt listing, it is cost effective to list more items.

I have a few new button up shirts with collars. There are denim shirts and black cotton shirts with some stitch work as well. These shirts will feature new art. I will start with these which have a classic Phoenix or Firebird printed in bright red on the back. The other design is an oriental dragon with wings printed in a traditional green ink.

Then I will try to get some new dragon art going and make some new cool button up style shirts for EBay. As old limited edition shirts sell out, I will create a shirt gallery on the website to add them to. There you will be able to see all of the shirts that were sold out on EBay. I hope this gallery grows!

Remember, I do use the same artwork multiple times but I choose different garments and print them differently. This way I can make the most of my very hard to get artwork.

Two Brand New Articles Added To The Catspit Website!

Another 2 new articles about screen printing have been added to the Article Archive page in the Printing Articles section of the Catspit Productions website. Learn more about coating screens and using direct emulsions for textile screen printing applications.

The first is called “Stencil Performance: Understanding Direct Emulsions & Capillary Films” and the second is “Using Direct Emulsions: Screen Coating Tips”. The new Article Archive page in the Printing Articles section of the website is where you will find all of the latest articles about screen printing by Catspit Productions.

Remember; I add articles and content often. I try to add articles every month so make sure to check back with the Catspit website to see new material. Always keep in mind it takes a week or so for Google to index new additions and therefore it takes some time for new content to show up in the site search function.

New YouTube Channel Design Finally Hits Catspit Productions Channel

Finally the long awaited new channel design has hit the YouTube channel for Catspit Productions. YouTube has been promising this change for some time now and many users have dreaded its arrival.

Basically the new channel design takes away a lot of the control.  We have lost the ability to feature videos on our own channel page. I can only choose the one video which is featured in the default player on the channel page. No longer can I put website promotional videos or videos that have low view counts in the spotlight of the channel page. As a result, we may no longer create a unique channel by modifying it with many of the options it used to have.

It would seem that this is a way of homogenizing the average YouTube user. And the anti fake view count software that YouTube employs only seems to affect the little guys who are performing well. Once again I have another video stuck at 303 views. That seems to be the magic number right now.

Check out these videos: HULU TUBE PHASING YOU OUT OF YOUTUBE mirror and NEWS ON THE CHANGES (Mirror). I am not sure how much of this is truth but I can tell you that YouTube has changed a lot very recently. It is a shame to see a great icon of the internet get washed down and commercialized to the point of loosing its original identity.

YouTube has been such an important internet device for people to share all kinds of things. It was a place where the users themselves would determine the direction of the site and its content. It was alive. It was an entity, a community. Now, I fear that it is just one more cog in the machine. Another place for big corporations to exploit their power over the general public and take away our ability to choose and decide what is popular.

Don’t get me wrong. I understand that YouTube needs to earn a buck. But the fact of the matter is that they have so much traffic and they dominate this niche on the internet. They were the first. We all know they could have left the integrity of the original YouTube site in tact and still profited off of the traffic that the site generates. But I guess when you can have it all…

On a final note I have to say that YouTube is still a great internet tool and I do support the use of the website. As long as I can post videos that people can find when they are looking for screen printing information, then I am happy. I can’t complain too much, it is a great free service.

New Video Uploaded

The newest video on YouTube is called How To Screen Print: Reclaiming & De-Hazing Expanded. This is an all new video which goes further into detail about reclaiming and de-hazing screens for screen printing.

This is the very first time that I used 2 cameras simultaneously to show 2 angles with 1 cut. It worked out very well and I will use this technique again in the future. This will allow me to get close ups and give different shots of the screen printing demonstrations. The only down side is that the quality if the video is not as good as the main footage. But I believe the advantages of the gained extra view is worth it.

I have also learned how to manipulate the volume between cuts so that the next time I do this, the volume will be more consistent. I hope everyone enjoys the added production value of these videos.

New Catspit Logo And Video In The Works!

I have been working on a new 1 color Catspit design to be printed in black ink on a variety of items. I want to come up with a cool design that can be easy to “stamp” everywhere I can.

I am going to use this opportunity to make a new video showing the printing of these shirts. I have been wanting to do a cool video of an actual print run but I am always so preoccupied with the actual print job that I have never felt comfortable making videos while printing.

So by creating this fun little print run with a new cool Catspit logo, I will get to make a good print demo video. I want to try to go from mounting the screen to printing the shirts. All within 10 minutes! I may have to cut some printing out but I will make sure to really show some good quality printing footage.

Stay tuned to the Catspit Productions website and the YouTube channel!

YouTube’s View Counts

Once again I am the subject of penalization from YouTube’s anti fake view count algorithms. The video How To Screen Print: Self Weeding Heat Transfer Paper has been stuck on 303 view counts for almost 3 days.

I just can’t seem to figure out why this keeps happening to my videos. At some point shortly after they are posted and most often around 200 or so view counts, they get stopped or slowed down to increasing 1 or 2 each day. If I can’t trust the view counts to give me an accurate reading on which videos are more popular, I cant’ make more videos like them.

It is just frustrating to be getting comments and inquires about the video and watch the view counter stay the same for days on end. I like to know people are enjoying them and I want to know which ones are the best and most viewed. But these days, I have no idea what is really happening.

I know there are 2 videos that seem to not be affected, but they too in the beginning had view counter problems. So I can only hope in time, that this resolves itself with each video, each time I upload them. I am getting to the point where I expect this to happen. Maybe if I factor this into my observations of video statistics, I can still get an idea of what is working.

If you watch Catspit Productions videos on YouTube, please leave a comment. This would help let me know people are enjoying them.
