Check out this photograph I took in my garage shop in October 2011 for an article I wrote for Printwear Magazine. I actually have these screens still set up in my rack. But the original Catspit art used here had some flaws I never noticed until later. Much later. Nothing horrible but it had a little of spacing issue with the Catspit letters. This is my original Skull and Bones logo which is almost as symbolic as our Secret Society logo which you see in so many of our YouTube screenprinting tutorial videos. Maybe I’ll have to update it and do a video with it in the future. Screen Printing Tee Shirts: Inexpensive High Opacity Orange Plastisol Ink

Okay so here is the 1st video for the high opacity plastisol inks I sell online and in Phoenix, Arizona. Please remember the camera and your computer monitor will affect the actual color you’re seeing. I made every attempt to color correct the ink in the different shots to accurately reflect the ink color but my limitations may be noticeable. If only I had a professional video production department like some of the other giants…. LOL 

We now have a nice selection of colors in plastisol textile inks. This is an inexpensive ink with high performance results. I’m carrying mostly gallons in different colors with quarts in select colors. I actually have to quart the ink myself and label them so I’m trying to offer as many colors in quarts as I can in Phoenix. Here’s the pricing for the economy standard black and white inks. High Performance Plastisol Textile Screen Printing Inks

I did the best to make the light about the same and even though there is some reflectivity, I think you can see the ink is awesome either way you print it. Plastisol-Orange-Ink-Side-By-Side

So I was introducing this ink as an inexpensive, high performance plastisol ink but the realities of online marketing may force me to take drastic measures even when they seem illogical. The problem is my low pricing and free shipping. I cannot sell a gallon of ink that weighs almost 10 pounds at $40 and pay the shipping for you. HO inks are $60 per gallon. But after a bit of research and analysis I have discovered that free shipping is not always free. One way or the other as an ecommerce customer you will pay shipping fees. With items like a $1500 bracelet obviously it’s easy for the seller to absorb the shipping fee since it could ship by USPS for less than $5. Therefore there are some items where the profit margin is so high the seller can pay the shipping for you. But in most other cases the shipping is built into the price of the product, especially with heavy items like inks and chemicals.

But here’s the stigma with free shipping online; many people don’t do any price comparisons and simply will not buy from anyone charging shipping even if they could save money with the shipping costs factored in. What that means is statistically ecommerce shoppers pay more for an item when it has free shipping and will not buy the same item at a much lower price with shipping fees even when that item costs less with the shipping fees. So If I want to offer free shipping like the bigger suppliers I will need to raise my prices to the same levels they are at.

What could be a money saving economy line of plastisol inks may have to be priced like all the others simply to compete in a free shipping market. It’s sad but true. Try my inks now while they can still save you money even with the shipping fees.

New Catspit Screen Printing Tutorial Videos In Production…..

I’m working on 2 different videos at the same time currently. I want to get rolling on the next test print for the Nameless City Apparel artwork. So I have the second set of screens made and I need to get them ready for press and do a test print. We’re working on the color separations and hoping we can get a nice result with just the 3 colors. It’s a work in progress so we’ll keep you posted. The other video which we will film and upload first, I think, is the 1 color poster with spot color and halftone art using the vacuum pallet for my Ranar presses. In between all of that I want to do another freebie giveaway video and upload the 6 video series about my plastisol ink line.

Screen Printing: How To Clean Multiple Squeegees In The Washout Booth

Okay so I hope you all don’t start thinking I’m a sellout. I’m trying to feature the products that I use in my videos since I only sell the very same products I use. I am doing this in an attempt to help increase my supplies sales and make everyone aware you get the products I use in my videos from buying directly from me. This is an educational video that features 2 screen printing products that I use when I clean several squeegees at once. I call this cleaning squeegee in bulk since we do it in the washout booth with a brush and water. That’s right, water. You might think this is not a good idea but check out the video and you’ll see why it works out just fine. In the video you will learn how I use SaatiChem IR4 to scrub squeegees off and rinse them with water. Then I show you how I come back with a dry rag and some AlbaChem screen opener 1641 to touch them up and get them ready to go back to press. Follow along as I show you the products used and tell you where to get them and see me demonstrate the cleaning of the brushes as I actually clean a few squeegees in video. If you’ve ever had to break down a 6 color press with a 6 color print job set up, then you will want to watch this video to save you time and labor.
