Here’s another screen printing video from the January ISS show in Long Beach 2018. Here we take a quick look at Saati’s new laser to screen imaging system. So this is like the direct to screen systems where you see the emulsion coated screen get printed with a wax dye which acts like the film positive. Well this technology takes it one step further by eliminating the need for film, wax dyes, inks, or other consumables. It uses a laser imaging device to directly expose the screen with a laser projected image of your artwork. The artwork goes directly from the computer to the laser light where it then exposes the screen much like an older projection exposure unit would. Except in this case there really is no projection distance and the image is being created directly with the laser lights. The result is a very highly detailed screen. This has a lot of awesome applications for screen printing especially where low tolerance printing is being done. Graphic industrial screen printing would greatly benefit from technology like this since there are times where exactitude is a must in printing.
