Screen Printing Tee Shirts: Cleaning The Scoop Coater Experimental Hack

Here’s a quick video on an idea I’ve had for a long time now. It came from the personal training sessions I teach in the Phoenix storefront. I teach how to coat screens with emulsion so the scoop coater has to be cleaned each time immediately after the screen coating part of the session. Without any kind of tank, it takes a lot of running water and it takes a few minutes to complete. I thought of using PVC pipe and make a small “dip tank” I can immerse the used scoop coater into. By having it entirely submerged it will keep the emulsion wet and should begin dissolving it. Some of it should settle to the bottom after a bit of time. This would allow me to use less water in cleaning and allow me to move on with the student. And after soaking for a while, it should be easier to clean. This is an experiment so I’ll have to follow up and let you know how it works in another video.
