In this screen printing video I show you the orange Amex Arsen Manoukian water based textile ink. It’s a quick run through with printing, clean up and some info on using a standard infrared belt dryer with an air flash to cure shirts. This is a water based textile ink for direct printing on light and dark fabrics, ready-to-wear or pre-cut articles. Suitable for cotton, jersey, Lycra and other natural and synthetic fabrics like polyester. This ink has a very long drying time but traditional methods for water based ink printing are recommended. It has a very smooth yet pasty consistency much like frosting. It will not run on the screen when it is in the up position. Working with this ink compares to working with plastisol inks due to its thickness and long evaporative drying times. It’s a pretty easy water based ink to work with but I am finding that I like a very straight squeegee for this fabric ink. I’ll probably try an aluminum handle squeegee for the next video. It makes it easier to control the volume of ink printed especially on aluminum pallets. If you’re using an older MDF pallet that may be curved, you may want to stick with a wood handled squeegee.
Important note… that screen is the same screen I have been using for the water based ink videos. This is Textil PC Blue emulsion from Saati with NO hardener used. When you properly cure an excellent emulsion like this, it has no issues in doing plastisol and water based inks. Even with being rinsed off repeatedly with water. I urge you to try some especially if you’re using a cheap emulsion. Thanks for watching!
