Screenprinting: Can You Use A Yellow Bug Light As Your Safelight?

Check out this quick tips video about using a bug or insect light as your safe light in the dark room for screenprinting. This is a very common question that beginners and starting screen printers will ask so I thought it would help out to make a quick video about it. The yellow bug lights are all about light pollution in the ecological sense. So incandescent bulbs attract the most bugs and it seems the higher the wattage the more bugs are attracted to the light. So low wattage “LED lamps could greatly reduce the impact of light pollution on insects. From an ecological perspective, LEDs with a warm color temperature should be favored because they attract the fewest insects; their lower emission in the blue spectrum should reduce their contribution to light pollution.” So check out this short video for the definitive answer on using an insect light as your darkroom safe light. Hopefully this will help a lot of you out with this very commonly asked question. Enjoy!
